Lyme Regis Cobb & Beach

The jewel in the crown of the Jurassic Coast, Lyme Regis is a picturesque seaside town. Famous for its 13th century harbour known as The Cobb, which was featured in the film The French Lieutenants Woman starring Meryl Streep and Jeremy Irons.

The beaches are a mixture of sand and pebbles and are perfect for families. Lyme Regis is ideal for relaxing on the main sandy beach which gently slopes out too see, great for paddling and young swimmers.

If you want to try some fossilising join one of the many guided fossil walks. Head to Monmouth Beach to the West, or off to the far East towards Charmouth, which is also amazing for rock pooling when the tide is out.

There are many lovely shops, cafes, pubs and small museums in Lyme Regis. Not to forget ice cream and fish and chips. Views from the gardens above the beach of the Cobb and the coastline are stunning. It’s 15 minutes drive to Lyme Regis from Andrewshayes.
