A wonderful treasure hidden on the Somerset border. It combines beautiful gardens with a former monastery and chapel as well as ornate rooms to visit. It is a living testament to the people who have lived and worked there over the past nine centuries. In October 2013 filming took place in the Great Hall for part of “Far From the Madding Crowd”, which was used as the Corn Exchange where Bathsheba Everdene first meets Mr Boldwood. There is a tea room, gift shop and letterboxing trail for children. Dogs on leads are welcomed.
Burrow Farm Gardens ~ 01404 831 285
Just 1 mile from Andrewshayes is East Devon’s secret garden, 10 acres of colour from April to October with stunning displays of azaleas and rhododendrons. Dogs welcome on leads.
