There are so many great events in Devon, Dorset and Somerset, you are sure to find days out to suit your family, whatever the ages.
Many visitors to the area make a point of booking when their favourite event is running. Here are some of the best or well known ones that run every year. Please check the organiser’s websites for exact dates as they vary from year to year.
MAY & JUNE
Sidmouth International Jazz and Blues Festival  –  a fabulous programme of music across different venues. Details sidmouthjazz.com/
Lyme Regis Fossil Festival –Â a free family festival with interactive activities, talks for all ages, a fossil market and fossil walks. fossilfestival.com/
Axe Vale Show – gardening, crafts and local food as well as arena displays and entertainment. Held over 2 days in late June. www.axevaleshow.co.uk/
JULY & AUGUST
Lyme Regis Life Boat Week – a week-long schedule of events for all the family. Usually starts the last weekend in July.
Honiton Show – one of the largest one-day agricultural shows in England. Full of animals, tractors, food and entertainment. The first Thursday of 1st August.
Sidmouth Folk Festival Week – one of the best small festivals in the country with a huge range of music and entertainment. performances all over town and many free events. Held in the end of July / early August.
Lyme Regis Carnival and Regatta Week. A week of activities for all ages as well as a fantastic firework display, All raising money for local charities and organisations 2nd week in August
Dalwood Fair – our local village fair is a traditional event with family entertainment, games of chance and displays. Popular with visitors and a locals alike. The third Saturday in August
Sidmouth Air Display – Held in mid to late August
Sidmouth Regatta and Fireworks – Traditional sea-based activities take place on in August culminating with live music and a spectacular firework display. Sunday’s events are for the children and their families.
Lyme Folk Weekend – enjoy folk and country music from well-known bands and artists over the August bank holiday weekend.
