Planning a holiday when you own an electric car presents its own set of challenges. The good news is that with a bit of careful planning these can easily be overcome.
Depending on how far you want to travel, knowing the range of your EV is of course vital. The easiest option is to plan a journey that means you don’t have to stop to recharge en-route. Finding available fast EV charging points near main trunks roads can be hard, and although they are becoming a lot more common, charging at these locations will cost you a premium rate.
What is the Range of an Electric Vehicle ?
With the average range of an EV 230 miles, East Devon is well placed for many journeys to the West Country without fear of running out of charge.
Located roughly 150 miles from Birmingham and West London you should reach the area even with the lights, radio and air conditioning on!
On a good run this is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours journey so something you can manage in one stage.
A choice of EV Chargers
At Andrewshayes Holiday Park, near Axminster in Devon, we are delighted to now have installed 3 charging points.
If you are not in a rush to get out and about exploring there are 2 overnight chargers. If you want a top up before heading to the beach then the 22 kWh medium fast charge unit from Rolec is also available. Both use the popular Monta which can be easily accessed using the Monta App.
Please note we do not permit charging from EHU points on our touring and tent pitches or from static caravans – if you are seen doing this there will be a £25 excess payment charge.

Once you arrive at Andrewshayes, you are safe in the knowledge that you can unpack and charge your vehicle again. We will always keep the rate reasonable so that it is about the same as it would cost you at home.
Download the Monta app before you travel on an Apple device or Android and you will find it easy to start charging and pay through the app.
You can enjoy your days out all around the local area and return to recharge over night or fast charge at any time.
There is so much to do in East Devon and all along the Jurassic Coast, all within a short drive from Andrewshayes which makes it the perfect location for an electric vehicle.
