Andrewshayes Holiday Park Community Raises Over £6,500 for Teenage Cancer Trust

At Andrewshayes Holiday Park, the sense of community has always been one of the things that makes holidays there so special. During the 2025 season, that community spirit was on full display as staff, regular customers and holidaymakers came together to support the incredible work of Teenage Cancer Trust.

What began with an ambitious fundraising target of £3,000 soon turned into something far bigger than anyone expected. Thanks to months of hard work, enthusiasm and generosity, a fantastic total of £6,579 was raised over the course of the season — more than doubling the original goal.

The fundraising activities were centred around The Ploughman’s Bar and Restaurant, where bar manager Amanda, alongside her dedicated team of staff and a loyal group of regular customers, organised an impressive variety of events throughout the year. Their commitment and energy helped create an atmosphere that not only raised money for a worthy cause, but also made holidays at Andrewshayes even more memorable for visitors.

Many of the events quickly became highlights of the week for guests staying on the park. Regular activities included lively music bingo nights, weekly meat raffles, charity race nights, discos and live music evenings, all accompanied by fundraising raffles that encouraged everyone to get involved. Visitors who arrived expecting a relaxing holiday often found themselves becoming part of a much larger community effort, with friendships formed over shared laughter, entertainment and support for the charity.

Family Fun Day and Dog Show

One of the standout events of the season was the hugely successful dog show and family fun day. The event attracted families, dog lovers and holidaymakers from across the park. Fun categories for the dogs brought plenty of smiles and entertainment, while children enjoyed the bouncy castle and activities including face painting. Fundraising stalls added to the summer party atmosphere, creating a day that perfectly captured the warm and welcoming spirit that Andrewshayes is known for.

Coast Path Walk

The determination of the fundraising team extended well beyond the bar and entertainment venue. In one particularly demanding challenge, members of the Ploughman’s staff team undertook a charity walk along the South West Coast Path. Joined by supportive customers, the group completed approximately 20 miles from Sidmouth to Seaton, tackling steep hills, dramatic cliff paths and stretches of difficult pebble beach along the way. The challenge demonstrated not only the commitment of the staff, but also the willingness of customers to step forward and support the cause alongside them.

Another imaginative event that proved extremely popular was a charity treasure hunt by car. Teams were given clues to solve around the local area, encouraging participants to explore nearby towns, villages, shops and cafés. As well as raising money for charity, the event also supported local businesses and introduced visitors to attractions they may otherwise never have discovered during their stay.

Fun and Laughter

The season also included plenty of light-hearted fundraising moments that kept both participants and spectators entertained. Staff members and volunteered to be dunked with ice water and customers paid to vote, managers Josh and Grace received the dunking much to the amusement of the crowds gathered to watch. On another occasion, Dave,  a particularly courageous customer even agreed to undergo a back waxing challenge in front of supporters, generating laughter, applause and generous donations in equal measure.

Everyone Was Involved

What made the fundraising campaign especially meaningful was the involvement of the regular customers and holidaymakers who return to Andrewshayes year after year. Many visitors didn’t simply attend the events — they helped organise them, donated prizes, volunteered their time and encouraged others to take part. New visitors quickly found themselves welcomed into the fun, helping create a unique atmosphere that made their holidays even more enjoyable and memorable.
The success of the fundraising effort reflects the special sense of togetherness that exists at Andrewshayes Holiday Park. Amanda and her team deserve enormous praise for the countless hours of organisation and hard work they devoted throughout the season, but equal credit must also go to the staff, customers and guests whose enthusiasm turned every event into a celebration of community spirit.

A Great Achievement

Raising £6,579 for Teenage Cancer Trust is a remarkable achievement and one that everyone involved should feel incredibly proud of. More importantly, the events created lasting memories, strengthened friendships and demonstrated how a holiday park community can come together to make a genuine difference for an important cause.

The main Charity chosen for 2026 is Tommy’s, (the pregnancy research and baby loss charity) and this will go alongside our continuing support for the Devon Air Ambulance and Cure Parkinsons Charities
