Our Awards ~

At Andrewshayes we have worked hard over the years to achieve the standards we would expect to find if we went on holiday.  One of our main aims is that our park is a clean, tidy and pleasant place for you and your family to have your holiday.  We also want to ensure that our staff are friendly and welcoming and that all the facilities are as you would hope to find them.

Each of the different awards we have take a slightly different focus, but they help keep us on our toes and encourage us to make continual improvements to the park.

Devon Tourism Award Winner

It’s official – Andrewshayes is one of the top parks in Devon!! Whoop whoop!

In 2018 we came second in the category for Caravanning and Camping Parks up against a number of other Devon parks, improving on our 2016 third place.

Here’s owners brother and sister Pete and Clare receiving the award from Jo Pavey – our local Olympian in 2016.

Southwest Tourism Award

We are delighted to have maintained our 4 AA Pennants for 2018. This is what the AA say that we need as a minimum for this award.

“Parks with this award have achieved an extremely high standard in all areas. You can expect fully tiled shower cubicles and some combined toilet-washing cubicles. A warden is available at all times, and there is a good level of security and supervision. The award also means that at least half of the pitches will have an electric hook-up and there will be a maximum of 25 pitches per camping acre. There will also be a shop on site or nearby, and the park will have a reception area and a late-arrivals enclosure. A laundry with at least one washing machine and drying facilities will be available, and you can expect to find a children’s playground”.

This is the summary for the 2017 inspection which took place on 21st April 2017.

“It is always a pleasure to visit this park and this year I was met in reception by Annette who was happy for me to carry out my inspection on my own. The facilities are located in two blocks and they were spotless clean and smelling fresh, as was the dishwash area and laundry room. Out on the park all the pitches were well maintained and I noticed in the lower field two pitches had been prepared to take two glamping pods, a new addition at Andrewshayes. The bar/restaurant area has been revamped with good quality fixtures and fittings and the outside seating was looking good, clean and tidy. The indoor covered pool was very clean with good quality surrounds. A very good well-maintained park with the excellent addition of two new Glamping Pods.”

For 2018 Andrewshayes has increased to 89%

Andrewshayes Trip Advisor Award of Excellence 2018

Visitors to Andrewshayes have kindly been leaving reviews for us on TripAdvisor and we are delighted to have received their Certificate of Excellence for the second year running. This is based on the consistently good reviews we have received.

So thank you for your contributions if you made one and we would love you to leave us a review after your stay.

What is a Premier Park? This is a scheme operated by the producers of Caravan, MMM Magazine and “Out and About Live” web site.  Premier Parks are selected and have to be  rated by the magazine’s Parks Department editorial team before they can join. Although high-quality facilities are important, it’s the overall feel, ambiance and location that earns parks top marks. Premier Parks has high standards and has developed its own unique rating scheme to assess parks thoroughly, entirely independent of any tourist board rating.

To get maximum points a park needs to offer superb pitches with immaculate landscaping, well-equipped toilet blocks and a first rate atmosphere. Premier Parks is a select group – there are only about 80 Premier Parks throughout the UK.

Andrewshayes was first inspected during 2012 and we were delighted to have been selected for the scheme and of course very pleased to have been approved. We were inspected in 2013 and retain our Premier Parks status for 2016/7.

We’re a highly rated Devon holiday park on Campsites.co.uk

Campsites awarded us their ‘Highly Rated’ award after reviewing what we offer compared to other sites.  We are very proud that people see us as being Highly Rated and Recommended, thank you Campsites co uk.

David Bellamy Conservation Awards are made each year to parks which can demonstrate policies showing active concern for the environment. The parks that take part in the scheme are all regularly assessed by the scheme’s team of local wildlife experts. The assessors look at the steps parks are taking to:

– Manage their land as a haven for wildlife
– Reduce their use of energy, water and other resources
– Reduce, reuse and recycle the waste they produce
– Support their local communities.

David Bellamy uses the assessors’ reports (and any comments received from members of the public) to make his awards each year. Three levels of excellence can be achieved: Gold, Silver and Bronze. Here at Andrewshayes we are very proud to have been awarded Gold for the 5th year running. We work hard to make the park as “green” as possible, and consider everything from employing local staff and stocking local goods in our shop, to investing in renewable energy. We also have a fantastic rural location and our new deciduous woodland area has provided another lovely place to take a walk or picnic and is part of our children’s nature trail. In 2010 we received a Special Distinction from David Bellamy for this woodland.

Andrewshayes Holiday Park has been graded 4 stars every year from 2001 to 2013. We decided to leave the scheme as we felt we do not need to participate in both the AA and Visit England grading schemes.

The star rating system is the official assessment service provided by Visit England. The rating for Holiday, Touring and Camping Parks reflects the overall quality of the park. The assessment covers nearly all aspects of the park that a visitor would expect such as the level of facilities being offered, the cleanliness of all the public areas, the layout and quality of the pitches and caravans for hire as well as provision of services such as a shop, bar and information room.

For 2012 the grading scheme was altered so that a park has to receive a 4 star grade across a number of different areas to become 4 star (previously as long as the overall score averaged out to 4 stars that was sufficient).
